Question Airbag Code 12

Been searching through the forum to find what this code means. Haven't found it yet, what is it?
I have a 95 Bronco with a 351.

Just wondering do you happen to have cruise? If so, don't ask me why but I had the same coe and turned out my cruise brake sensor that sits on the master cylinder was leaking fluid right through the sensor casing and shorting out. casued my third brake light to keep over heating bulbs to the point they melted and kept blowing all kinds of fuses. Also, dont' know if this is also happening to you but kept have to start the thing in neutral then take off, because if I started it in park couldn't shift out off park. replace the little booger on the master cylinder and replace the fuses and bulb and no more code or problems since. Don't know if this helps if not then maybe help someone else with another problem.

I do have cruise, but none of the other things you mentioned have happened. I'll look around that area though.

Thanx
Chris

Someone, anyone, any ideas. Going to have to go with the black tape option soon. What does the airbag code 12 mean?

I got the answer!!!!!

According to the ford diagnostic sheet for the airbag system. Code 12 means: "Low Battery Voltage".

So its time for you to get a new battery!!! Your just Lucky it was an easy fix.

P.s. Just to make sure. You found out the code by counting the number of blinks the airbag light makes, right?? For a code "12" it should flash once, STOP, then flash twice.

Hope this helps.

I was looking through some documentation on the airbag. It has a backup power supply inside. I wonder if this is the battery it's talking about. Looks like it's just a capacitor. Any thoughts?

When my 94 Bronco had a 12 code I had to replace the clock spring. It is located under the steering wheel. The cost was about $100.00 for the part, installation isn't very difficult.

Thermal fuse in air bag diagnostic moniter cannot be replaced Must replace the AB mon.(bright blue box) Bad clockspring(sealed brush assem under steering wheel - housing horn-cruise-air bag circuits) are not uncommon at my dealership- Oh yah there is a backup power supply built in to abm. just disc. batt. for 5 min. before working on steering wheel or AB system!!!

A code of 51 would point to the thermal fuse. Make sure your truck is producing more then 9 volts. Check all fuses!

Possible causes:
1. Charging system failure
2. Internal short within the safing sensor.
3. Blown fuse.
4. Short to ground on circuit 611 or 612.

P.s. Pin 13 is used in measuring voltage.

After repairing other codes sometimes 51 will show up-NO replacement of any fuse in bat. fuse box or inside fuse box will fix this!!! Thermal fuse is inside of air bag diagnostic moniter. I do this for a living at same Ford dealership since 1977.95 Mustang & up 95 windstars do have a fuse in eng. fuse box and all you have to do is replace it after faults are corrected.(bad crash sensors aka safeing sensor- broken-crushed wires etc.) Hard sometimes to give cust. est. on code 12 repair because 1 out of 10 will generate a new code of 51 after repair of 12( first thing tech thinks is what did I do wrong to generate a different code-nothing- just hard to explain to cust you need another $125 part-could be higher or lower- newer ones have to downloaded from old module to new module)
