2002 Ranger 4X4 Tire wear

Just bought a used (32,000 miles) 2002 Ranger 4X4 - Supercab - Offroad Pkg. Great truck. I noticed that the tires, all 4, were cupped on the inside. I figured the guy ran the fronts until they cupped then rotated the backs to the front. Ran those until they cupped. Hence all four cupped.
There is still quite a bit of tire tread left - so until they get replaced - The question is --- If I get the truck aligned, have the tires (all four ) balanced and rotated should the cupping get worse or not?
Thanks for any help
Bill

Is your truck out of alignment? You could cross the tires. What I mean is take the lefts and put them on the right and vice versa. A friend of mine knows fords like no one's business. This is the advice he gave me if I think I am out of alignment. He says that with ford axles when you rotate you need to go front to back without criss crossing the fronts when they go to the back. If you feel out of alignment then you cross the fronts and you cross the rears.

I think I confused myself. I do trust this guy with my truck so I feel it is sound advice.

Welcome to FTE!
If it's the stock Goodyear Wrangler tires, they are most of the problem. Do a search and you'll find quite a few people who agree. However, you should rotate the tires on these every oil change to keep them smooth. The goodyears that come on the new Rangers are garbage, get some better tires. Hey, is your truck black by any chance?

Another thought. How are the suspension components? Worn ball joints and/or worn shock can cause cupping on tires. Get these checked too.

If the truck has seen some good off road it most likley needs to get aliogned. I do not know is the 2002 ranger an Independant front end? if it is and it was off road then it really needs to go get straitened out.
