tranny leak

i have a 1978 f150 4wd and the tranny leaks out of the front. a friend told me that the front seal was probably bad. i don't think that this is a big job, except for the pulling of the tranny. does anyone know any good publications on rebuilding trannys...or at least know how to change the seal.. thanks
