Clay bar, when to do it for a first time

How much time after recieving your new truck, would you wait before you thought about using a clay bar? (most importantly, a BLACK truck)

A year, or it doesn't matter when you do it, or what?

Not sure of the answer, but they should clay bar it right before you take delivery, when the dealer details it. At least they did on mine.

I used the clay bar just after I got my truck. Here is a link to the Zaino that explains a little more about why to use a clay bar:

Here's what I did on my black '04 today:

Dawn wash
Clay Magic clay bar
Megs paint cleaner
Megs ScratchX
Wash(not Dawn)
Megs ColorX
Wash (not Dawn)
Megs NXT wax
Wash (not Dawn)
Megs #26 carnuba showcar glaze
Wash (not Dawn)

I realize Meguiar's isn't Zaino, but this sequence turned out pretty nice. I still have a few minor swirl marks (thanks to the dealer) but you have to look pretty hard to see them; so I will probably look for another product than ScratchX the next time I do this. After I finished, you can now look at the hood and get dizzy because you loose sense of depth, thats how perfect it looks! You can't beat black, period.

I did not know what a clay bar was until I followed the link above and read about it. It so happens that I have some stains on my hood from some true blooms that fell on the truck last week. I am headed to the auto parts store today to see if I can get it to get them out. Thanks.

good luck preach - it is an amazing thing. Just make sure to kepp the spot you are working on lubricated. And then wash it off thoroughly
