Real easy
Support the hood or have an assistant hold it
Remove the little clips at each end of the supports
They pull right off once the little clips are removed
I use a little pocket screwdriver or a pick tool and just pull the spring loaded clips straight off

Exactly. If no extra hands around, a 2x4 to prop the hood up will work. I think that’s how I changed mine out at work after hours...

You can buy actual hood props. Not bad to have if you wrench on a lot of different vehicles. Pro techs learn to not trust hydraulic struts because they sometimes hold.....until they don't (when you're under the hood)

Here's the Lisle I have. As of time of posting there's an AWD (Amazon Warehouse Deal) for $27....not bad. If it's somehow faulty Amazon will take it back on their dime......
https://smile.amazon.com/Lisle-45900...s%2C226&sr=8-4

I order way too much from Amazon on Warehouse Deals....typically the "used" actually means damaged packaging or open-box

I will use my rifle mono-pod when changing out the hood struts. If you don't trust your hood struts then it is time to change.

We’re the original hoods aluminum? I ask because my hood lifts have to be replaced as well since it tries to fall on me and my magnetic flashlights won’t attach the the hood. I see options on rockauto for steel and original, just want to order the correct parts the first time around.
