Thumbs up

Concep29----I installed 3 way 6x8's in all 4 doors on my 04, i'm waiting on an install kit for the head unit. I plan on replacing the old one with a sony black face (don't remeber the serial # right of hand). You shouldn't have any trouble getting the 6x8 3 ways installed and i think they sound great, however u still cannot turn the bass up much more than with the old head unit. I was told from an earlier forum that the head unit was the main problem with sound quality anyway. I am beginning to believe it, but i would suggest replacing the 25w factory pieces of junk with the pioneer 50w norm w/ 220w max. They sound great !!!!

Thanks froste, I'm going to keep my HU for now because it's the 6disc with the audiophile option. I'll try swaping the fronts first since I have a new set of polks that I bought for my 01 but never installed.

Yes it does, the rear sub fills in the bass nicely. One of the best stock systems that I've heard in a truck.

I was just wondering. if my system sounded good i would leave it alone, but no such luck here. I will be installing a new head unit this weekend sometime. Can't wait to hear the difference!

FYI- Just got off the phone with my uncle who is the GM of a ford dealership. Here is the scoup on the 6dish in dash units......they are constantly breaking. I know they are very convenient and look nice...however...when they start to fail....you MUST take them to the dealer to have it replaced or repaired. NO stereo store will work on them. This is a way that ford makes mega money off of its consumers. I replaced mine so that i wouldnt be spending all that extra cash in the future. I figured why not bite the bullet now, replace the unit with something nice...and have no worries with a warranty.
By the way....did anyone check out that website I posted? What do you think of that sub box? It sounds great, trust me. www.proboxrocks.com
