4x4 Light won't go out

Just like a ton of you, I've had a clunk sound coming from my hubs/front end after the truck sits for a few minutes, starts back up, and then you accelerate while turning. I've had it in the shop a few times with no luck of finding the problem. Now, the 4x4 light just came on yesterday and it won't go out, even with the truck in 2 wheel drive. Seems like something finally failed or is messed up. So, 2004 6.0 PSD (Nov. 03 build) now sits in the driveway another weekend until I can get it in the shop on Monday. Any one else with the same problem/situation?

Is it still in 4WD? If so, you should get some tire hop or shudder while doing some slow speed turns on the pavement. The clunk you describe shows up in Ford's service messages as being "normal". I would definitely take it in for service and let us know the outcome.

That "normal" clunk scares the bejeves (for tim) out of me every time it happens. As for the light. This is one of the reasons I don't like the electronic shift on 4X4's It is one of the only options I got that I did not really want.

Dont know about the clunk , but have a friend, that had the light problem and I think it was just a switch, and he was as good as new, good luck and hope they fix it, and your back on the road.
