I did a quick search on Google and didn't find any diesel mechanic type courses here. We do have several truck driving schools and a couple Vo Tech's here too. I'd do a search on Google for the Montana Technical Schools and see if there is anything that matches what you need. I think there is still a school for heavy equipment operator too. Sorry not more helpful.

My old stomping grounds, Helena College of Technology offers a good diesel progam (****ty computer technology though) my cousin went throught their diesel program, now he works at a New Holland close to Bozeman. It's approx. 1.5 hours from Bozeman. http://www.hct.umontana.edu/

Montana State University-Northern in Havre, MT is a top diesel tech school...there are a good number of their grads that go on to work for railroad outfits like Burlington Northern Santa Fe, etc...i may eventually go to school there, but i may also choose somewhere else...perhaps williston, north dakota at williston state college, as they have an auto tech program and a diesel tech program...also a couple good outfits down in wyoming, from what i'm told...just check around....also, check collegeview.com it's a good site to check a few thousand colleges around the country, and you can pick locations, school size, etc, etc, etc...

well, I'm not too sure about helena or havre....
I know the School of Mines in Butte is one of the top tech schools in the world.... and with the mine being open now, there are tons of jobs in the area.... and the price of copper is way high....so I'd venture to say the mine will be open for a few years...
Billings also has an extension of the College of Technology, and a superb Diesel technician program.... there are quite a few jobs here, just about everyone is hiring...

There is a diesel tech school in Laramie, Wyoming that is supposed to be excellent. They will guarantee you a job and any additional training after graduation that you need to keep up to speed. I can't remember the name of it right now, though. My friend's son is attending there. It's not cheap, though.

i checked the school in havre, and you can get a bachelor of science in automotive technology...it's like 3500 a year (mebbe it was semester...i don't remember offhand) and dorms are fairly cheap, too, overall...you can get up to a associates degree in diesel tech at havre...i'll almost definitely end up there in the next couple years, for school, because this whole "work" thing is starting to drive me up a friggin wall...anyway...have a good'un, all....

I'm in school up at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND which has really good auto and diesel and rec engine tech programs, but it's all the way on the MN border so Montana would be a little bit of a drive to go home. In my opinion, it's the best school in ND for tech programs, but I still can't wait for this next year to be over (and it hasn't even started yet) So forget MT, move up here, and I'll have a new drinking pal out at the mudholes.
