Question Traction Bars

Thanks for the many, various answers to my toploader ?. Regardless of what I choose I will need traction bars. As I have no idea of hp output, my bed is an eighties model flare side and pedal to metal produces wheel hop I need your reccomendations regarding traction bars. Lighting tires is cool but traction is final. Thank Ye!

Try Autofab.com. Their traction bars were designed for off-road, but would likely work for the street.

You could buy some 2x4 rectangle tubing and have them cut it in half with
a 45° cut and fab your own brackets and if you dont have a welder you can
have a shop weld them up! For the brackets I used old leftover peices of ford
truck frame . They sure turn out to be very heavy duty ,And bigger than any
slapper bar you can buy.

P.S you can buy the snubbers at some parts stores 10-15 dollars.

if you're not going to a 4 link, I would look into something like CalTrac bars.

as you probably already know the wheel hop is a result of the leafs turning into an 'S' shape under load and springing back...
Slapper bars do nothing(or at least very very little) to control the deformation of the leafs. They aid in traction by shoving the axle into the ground, but, the springs can still deform.
Many of the top stock suspension class cars are running CalTrac's or similar products... I would think Competition Engineering would have a similar product.

Good luck.

I disagree. There mounted right off the leaf, and as long as there setup tight, when the snubber touches the frame, the leafs will have no way to distort.

ya... you are correct... they take up a lot of the deformation.
brain fart over here...
I still prefer the design of the caltrac... but, they are more pricey too... so...
