Best way to wire XM power feed

Installed my XM Delphi in the overhead rail bin and ran the power feed to the fuse panel. Every fuse I tap into loses power whenever I turn on the ignition. I want the power to stay on all the time and will use the auto-timed shut on the Delphi to power off the unit. Where is the best place to tap into? Thanks for your help!

I'm not familiar with the delphi, but I assume the auto-timed shutoff you're talking about is the one that shuts the radio down shortly after you cut off the ignition.
If so, you could wire it straight up to the red/black wire on the back of the stereo.
Otherwise, just wire it to the battery.

I'm still kind of confused... you say the power turns off when you turn the key on? That doesn't seem right. Seems like it would be just the opposite...

What I mean is that when the ignition switch is turned to fire up the engine, it cuts off power momentarily to the Delphi. I have to then switch the Delphi back on.

CTBob, I am struggling with my XM radio as well. Which model do you have and where in the overhead rail system did you install it? What bin did you use, etc? DO you have any pics posted? Also, where did you get the 6VDC input for the power?

Thanks,

SgtFred

I mounted mine in place of the dash coin drop. For power I spliced into the 12V power outlet next to the glove compartment. Hindsight tells me I should have gone elsewhere with it, but it works fine. The problem is that the 12V supply to that outlet is constant so if I forget to turn off the Delphi, it's on till I get back to the truck. I wanted to connect it to the radio power but couldnt figure out how to disassemble the radio area of the dash.
