Jack/Stand position in front on 4X4

I rotated my tires this evening (first time) and the drivers side front is a real bear! Where do you all place the jack pad and have room to place the stand? There's no space between the front bell housing and the tire for the stand with the jack up. I ended up just using the jack in front -- and of course didn't go anywhere near underneath.

At some point, I'd like to get the front up on stands (e.g. brakes) and I'd appreciate any tips how to do this. I have a 2-ton jack (barely enough) and a pair of 6-ton stands.

Hmm. I tried going next to the diff in the middle, and I went way crooked. Couldn't really get the tire up, and didn't like the feeling of it all. No issues if you lift at the diff? I like the wood block idea. However, I have a stabilizer bar running nearly under the diff and very little room there too. Perhaps I just need a beefier jack. That engine is heavy! Thanks.

Here a thought for jacking under the rear housing. I when to a firestone dealer last year to have my back tires replaced. I told the sales person the truck was heavy the shop guy didn't get the message. He tried to jack it up with the dif only didn't work when and got another floor jack and jackup both sides. I walked out and he asked me how much it weighed. I tolded him 9K total and 4900 on back axle. 2000 cc F350 V10 4.30 gears Knapheide utility box back seat removed and full of freon and tools.
