My experience with a paint in bedliner
So i finally decided to install a bedliner in my 99 Ranger. My father used this truck as a work truck so the bed is dented up and it was filthy. So after reading up on Ken's Hurculiner article, i decided to go through with it. I ended up buying a can of a cheeper paint in liner at Wal-Mart. It was apx $40.00. So i started out by cleaning the bed with dawn and scrubbing it all down. The next day i used engine degreaser and washed it all out. After that, i sanded down most of the rust that was inside of the bed. I then wiped the bed down with a rag soaked with acetone. So i taped down my edges and applied 2 coats, using 3/4 of the can. Anyway, i decided to put a 5 gallon can of gas in the back to haul it back to the house. I had noticed it sliding and rolling around in the back but decided not to worry about it because the store is only 30 seconds from the house. So after i got home i noticed 3 chips in the paint that the gas can had made... I'm planning on touching these spots up tomorrow, then using the rest of the can. Then i plan on buying a new can of the $30.00 Hurculiner and giving that a try ontop of the bedliner i already painted in. So i hope that goes well. Anyway, this is just my experience with paint in bed liners.
Oh, and i just wanted to add, that it looks professionally done and i couldnt be more happy with the look it added to my truck!
