Shifting hard

I have a 96 5.0 5 speed, with a new/ used tranny as of january. It doesnt shift as smooth as it used to and is hard to get in gear when stopped (I sometimes have to pump the clutch). Think it just needs a fluid change? (It might have some water in it or something?) What kind of fluid should i use? Thanks for the help

I assume you had the clutch replaced too. If so then you may have to bleed the hydraulic system and the fluid should be DOT 3. This should say it somewhere on the fill cap.

i agree with bronco5.8. bleed the clutch. sounds like air in the system. that or your clutch is going if it wasn't replaced when the tranny was.
