Change Shift **** on 02 Sport Manual

Hello all. Just wanted to see if it was possible to change the shift **** on a 02 Sport. For the life of me, I cannot get the **** to turn and was thinking maybe I was missing something. Thanks!

I think I remember reading somewhere that it is pressed on, not screwed.

but don't quote me.
