Anyone remove body cladding from an XLT limited?
Hi all;
I'm wondering if anyone has removed the lower body cladding from a limited X. I've got a black 2000 PSD 4x4 (6 inch lift) and am kind of in the mood for a change. The lower cladding two-tone is starting to look sort of mini-van-ish to me.
Curious how hard they are to remove, how much adhesive is behind them, etc. Also curious if anyone else has found they prefer the "clean" look better...
Thanks -
Mike

I didnt remove mine; but I checked it out and it appears to be removeable, but you'd have paint fade to contend with. Also it would freaking suck to remove all that adhesive foam tape. I used a roll on bed liner on mine, looks great. I used a foam roller to make the texture a lot smoother than using the supplied loop roller. I know that OGNOM (MONGO on fordexcursions.com; his X is black also) used herculiner; not sure how the texture is with that.
In the pics in my gallery, you can see before and after i did the lower front bumper, but i dont have any yet of the whole side done. I also did the plastic pieces on the rear bumper to match.

Hi Fixxxer14;
Looked in your gallery but didn't see any post-bed liner pictures... Sounds interesting though, would be a two tone black and matt-black. A few years ago I had a Chevy K-Blazer "Sport" with lower body paint that was what they called "gunmetal grey", or basically matte black. It looked pretty good.

Here's a link to Mongo's pics, on fordexcursions.com. It does look pretty good, I'd take pics of mine now, but my camera battery is dead. Perhaps in a couple hours.
