For those of you on Long Island, every Friday afternoon/night Meschutt Beach (by the Shinnecock Canal) has a "Cruise to the Beach" event where a whole bunch of classic car owners gather and show off their rides. I figured maybe some of you guys knew that already, but I guess I was wrong. I went today and it was awesome, but I was disappointed in the conspicuous lack of Ford trucks. I saw three before I left, if I count my own.
Anyway ... I thought I'd spread the word. There were some very impressive Ford and Mercury cars there, but those of us with classic trucks need to stand up and be counted. I'm going to try and go again next week and I'd like to see some more Ford trucks out there.
To get there, take the Sunrise Highway to exit 66 and follow the Canal. Check out their website (http://www.licamping.com/camps/meschut.htm) for details. (Detailed directions are in the top right corner). I don't know what their policy with parking fees is before 4 PM, but I know that after 4 they don't charge for parking, regardless of the age of your vehicle. I'm also not sure how old your vehicle has to be to get in as a classic. I did see a '79 something there.
I had an awesome time today, but next week could be a hundred times better if those of you with older trucks could make it. Peace out.
P.S. Today was the first time my truck's been on the highway in probably 30 years ... and I was tickled pink to find that she cruises just great at 70 mph, with no overdrive and 3:70 gears.

As of right now, I hope to go next week. It's just that right now, I don't know who I'm going with. Today I brought three of my friends, but needless to say, the girls got bored. Maybe next week I'll bring my dad (a.k.a. restoration expert).

Just thought I'd let everyone know ... I'm gonna be at Meschutt again tomorrow afternoon/evening. Don't know what time yet. I would like to see some of you there.
