Overdrive light blinks when overdrive is off

I was driving through town today with the O/D off and the O/D light started to blink. I drove it again later to see if it stopped but it kept blinking only when I switched the O/D off. It seems to blink in a random series. It shifts just fine. The tranny does have a slow leak.

Does this sound like a problem with the LED light or could it be my tranny about to blow into a gajillion pieces?

Thanks all!

I think the OD blink is your trucks way of alerting you. I believe the sequence indicates a code, but I am not sure. You might want to do a search on this subject. I believe its been talked about a few times, and you might find some information on how to decode the blinks.

Yeah, I did a search before I posted this but read that you had to go to a parts store to have the codes pulled.

hey nascar - when i had abs problems i shorted some diagnostic box in the engine compartment and the number of flashes for either the check engine or abs light gave me the code. i think i found the code in chiltons or haynes.

hope this helps.
