Radiator Dings

04F150 STX with less than 1,000 miles. Already have 4 dings in the radiator from stuff flying in from the front of the truck and i only drive paved roads. Has anyone installed screen wire or some other fix in front of the radiator to repel the pebbles? I dont want to drastically reduce the airflow to the radiator but 4 radiator dings in 700 miles doesnt sound great for the long term health of the radiator. Any ideas? thanks.

I put a lund screenfront on my '01 and it does a good job of repelling rocks and larger insects besided looking good. I don't know if ones available yet for the '04 but if not I'm sure its coming. I haven't noticed any differences in temp after installing it, even towing a low speeds in the heat.

Air conditioning supply stores sell things that look like a comb that you stick between the fins and move back and forth to straighten them. They are only a coulple of $$. They help remove insects, too.

the screenfront snaps on over the outside of the grill. Mine fit perfectly, the only way you can tell that there is something over the grill is because of the different pattern between the screenfront and the grill.

I got a piece of black aluminum screen for windows and doors from the hardware store and after cutting to fit used some small zip straps and fastened in front of the rad core. You can't see it from the front of the truck and it works fine.Did this first day home and after 5000K no damage.

I too put aluminum screen behind the grill with cable ties. Let it take the hits.

I was already asked where I bought it. Told them it was homemade and they needed to see it to believe it.
