Gasoline Direct injection

I'm not sure how i didn't hear of this before but apparently Mitsubishi (I know, I know) has a new fuel injection that does similar to diesel DI. Seems as though it could be the next step in auto technology. What do you guy's think? Anyone know of another company using this technology? heres a write-up on it: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/i...GDI/page5.html

Hey you know, if this idea works, American auto makers might be able to benefit from it as well. It really wouldnt be a big deal to take there idea. Japaneese wouldn't have one single car company if it werent for stealing just about every idea from American Automakers.

There is an article in a recent issue of Car and Driver on gas direct injection. There is also a write up on a MB E320 with high pressure direct diesel injection--that car is faster than the gas version. Will post issue when I can find it.

IMO, direct injection for gas and high pressure direct injection for diesel will be our salvation for emissions and, what could be more important: Power.

Isuzu's been there, done that. Their new 3.5L v6 GDI Rodeo is already on the streets or so I have heard.

If you want to see that tech up close, pop the hood and then test drive. Since Isuzu will be comitting suicide by selling pretty much only the Ascender until 2007, you might not see them GDI engines again.....

Well, not that I'd buy just anything the Japanese makers offer, but if the "domestics" had improved on their products as quickly as their ideas were stolen...allegedly, they'd not be in the crapper, would they?
