Curious about chevy 85 4x4.

Brother has 1985 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 looks like rear axle is narrower than front. Is it right or strange.

Thanks.

That's normal. They are narrower by about approx 2 inches. Something to do with the handling characteristics or some such b.s. I've seen it mentioned in several places always referring to the tracking of the front and rear wheels during turns or some such thing. I always thought that it was just cheaper to keep the same width axles from chassis to chassis so they did it the easy/cheap way.
