i was running with the wastegate unhooked before when i installed a chip i hooked it back up as i didnt want to defuel, but just for fun i unhooked it with the chip and the power increase was very noticeable there was less smoke and the egt didnt climb nearly as fast but the boost will jump above 25 psi pretty quickly. so is there adjustment on the wastegate to make it stay closed longer ? when it is hooked up there is quite a bit more lag then when it is unhooked. so i want the best of both worlds i want the performance of no wastegate but no more than 25-30 psi. is this asking too much
i just did a post with complete instructions how to do just that about a week and a half ago...just click here
it starts with "ok i just finished the shorten your rod mod" or something like that. it gained me a good 3psi of boost
ok so shortning the rod will keep more seat pressure on the waste gate before it is forced open, with the actuator unhooked? at what psi do most unhooked wastegates get forced open? thanks, Jesse
that depends on many factors, what i can tell you is with the mods i have and my chip set to the stock setting, before i did this mod i would get 20 psi unloaded at WOT(wide open throttle) and after it i will get 23 psi in the same situation
with the red waste gate line off(i have mine plugged with a ball bering). if you want to make power take it off and leave it off, the mod in the link i posted to you is in addition to just taking off the waste gate line.
with my wastegate line off with the chip i can get 30 lbs of boost. i dont think the wastegate is being forced open, think maybe i need to lengthen the rod a little?
well i left the wastegate unhooked and put a regulator in the map line so it wont defuel. but know i get bad turbo flutter so its time for a wicked wheel or ats housing maybe both.
