it looks like it uses the twin traction beam style with two diffs, so it would bolt up to the stock crossmember with no modifications to the frame. talk about a pain to regear two sets of gears just in the front.

Interesting link!

How do you do two front diffs? Turn a tandem transfer case backwards hooked to a full time transfer case? Hence, only AWD and locked 4x4?

To me it looks like the front diffs are welded to the stock I-Beams! Does this mean in 4x4 lock you have a locked front end? The only way to get a normal diff to work in that setup is to lincoln lock it each diff. To me they look like two different Chevy diffs on each side ...

You know what is really funny? Bragging about putting three tons of wood in a one ton van, in a van with no barrier between the load and driver, and driving it in slippery conditions.

Be interesting to know how it was thrown together.

Its a very pecular setup indeed. I might just send the guy an email to see if he knows anything about, company name or something.

It's a Dana-Vee conversion, read about it elsewhere on the net before, but, I don't have much in the way of info. Best bwt would be to google it.

To make us all say pumpkin seed.. Looks like something from Monster garage. I really don't know why anyone would do this. I guess it would allow for some sort of independant suspension. The only real reason I can possibly see though would be so that you don't have to lift it in order for the oil pan to clear the drive shaft. Stillseems to me. Where would someone find those goofy transfer cases???

Looks like someone's method of converting a 2wd truck to 4wd without changing the whole frontend and lifting the truck. I've never seen a transfercase with dual front outputs, let alone angled like that. The diff cases are unusual too. I dont really see the benefit to it though, plus it adds alot of unsprung weight to the independent frontend and alot of extra parts to maintain/replace...

I emailed the guy, he says he has know idea, but he had the U-joints replaced with Explorer ones. It's unigue, I'll give them that. But is also kinda ingenious(from a design perspective) in how all the parts integrate and work together.
