If you take the same vehicle, ie: cab configuration, drive, weight, etc. with equal drivers, driving each vehicle to it's full potential. How could the V10 win?
Now take same vehicles with the same drivers and add a supercharger to the V10 and a chip to the 6.0L. (V10= 320ish rwhp / 500ish rwtq) (6.0L 350ish rwhp / 650ish rwtq). Again, how could the V10 win?
Now I will say, in stock configuration you cannot just go from an idle and stab the throttle, in this case I think the V10 would be the better bet. BUT, take the 6.0L and apply the brake and go pedal to build some boost off the line........... 6.0L all the way.
Lance Armstrong is trying for win #6 in the Tour De France. But he is never in the lead going into the mountains. You can't look at just numbers when comparing 6.0 PSD vs 6.8 V-10. An engine making 550 pounds of torque at 1800 rpm, and yet 325 hp at 4500 rpm is a whole different animal than a gas engine. It's more than raw, base numbers, they really don't correlate at all. Formula 1 cars are some of the fastest cars in the world, 850 hp at 18,500 rpm but probably only 250 foot pounds of torque in 3 liters, pretty incredible. Torque is good, diesels make alot of torque, but you STILL have to be able to spin that engine enough, at enough rpm to make horsepower or you'll get smoked everytime. My brother has a stock 6.0 PSD, I have a stock 6.8, I smoke him every time, every single time. And it drives him nuts because he can't figure out why 325 hp and 550 ft lbs of torque can't beat 270 hp and 410 ft lbs of torque. 18 wheelers make like 400 hp and 1200 ft lbs, seen any of those at the drags lately ? The gas engine builds in both torque AND hp as revs increase, whereas the diesel produces it's torque early, then as hp builds torque decreases. This type of power is great for pulling heavy loads at a constant rpm, but it does not make for a great race engine. I don't want to start the whole gas vs diesel war, I like both engines, and have had both engines. When I get ready to retire and want a motorhome that will provide great mileage, long life and lots of torque to haul it's girth around, I will buy one with a diesel. I don't want to win any races with that vehicle, I want smooth, even, steady torque to carry me and my stuff around. But included in my stuff will be a gas engined, high revving, big horsepowered with less low end (and in a race car unusable) torque, race car. Lance Armstrong is not a sprinter, like a gas engine is. But when he gets to the hills, he has the torque that propels him past all the sprinters, who have the horsepower, Ken

Perhaps you guys are right in the world of butt dyno's and manufacturer's flywheel horsepower and torque numbers? I'll wait until some of you others with supercharged V10's post the numbers. I've checked many times for someone on several sites... but everyone always seems to be waiting for one reason or another. Just don't want to hit the dyno with just the supercharger... well maybe after a few more mods and a lot more money!
I believe I've posted my dyno numbers before on this website, but I'm not sure where. My 2000 F-250 4X4 automatic V10 with a Paxton and a catback made 391 rwhp and a very flat torque curve of 444 rwtq. The only other mod was a custom chip, Paxton had no idea how to tune the newer Fords.

Brian was unable to pull those kind of RWHP numbers out of my KB supercharged V10. His tune did however correct the lean condition problems I had.

Did he just send you a chip or did you have him tune it on a dyno?

He would send me the chip. I would get a dyno locally, then send it back etc. I had planned on taking the 300 mile trip out there this summer to have it tuned on the dyno but as you probably know he sold the business.

Brian did sell the buisness but he is now in charge of tuning at SCT (Superchips custom tunes). A friend of mine is getting set up as a dealer in the St. Louis area and will be able to dyno tune for superchips. I'm going to have him modify my tune to compensate for all my mods since the original tune. Brian just sent me an off the self tune for my 03 Cobra and it works great. I'll let you know when that friend of mine gets set up and tunes my truck on the dyno again.
