I just went out and got an A/C thermometer and on the way home the temp never got below 46 degrees. I talked to the service rep at the dealer and he said it could be anywhere between 38 and 55 degrees but he would have to look up my truck to be sure. It was 74 degrees outside when I checked it and it was not getting very cool in the truck. I hate to see what its like when its 100 outside. I'm going to bring it in for a check next week and see what they say.

I had a shop in Murray do it. They were the only ones in Utah authorized to install Formula One performance tint film. I believe their address is 4555 S. Auto way (Main st). (South of the Deseret Industries lot near State st. and 45 South.) I went back by there and they appear to have moved out of that location. Not to worry, the warranty is for life and is coast to coast. I save about $100 bucks there over a local shop here.

I had to sign a waiver because my tint choices were darker than Utah's limits. Since I am registered in California, they could legally install it. They have the codes from all states, and know what Utah's codes are.

They will give you a certificate stating the legality if you get hassled. I have never even been stopped for it. In California we don't have those stupid annual safety certs.....just other stupid laws.

OUCH! Black interior is gorgeous, but it sure is a heat magnet!

I am coming up this Friday to do some fishing for a couple of weeks after I pick up my grandson and granddaughter in Provo. Going to Mirror lake area above Kamas. I'll be towing a 30 footer. Where are you?

I'm in Salt Lake.

I've been up in that area (Kamas/Soapstone) many times, beautiful country. Great hiking and fishing.

I will have to track down the tint shop that did yours and see where they moved. Hopefully I will get a good price. The cert. that they give you now must be new because I never received one for my 1997 F-250.

Well, have a great time in the mountains. Drive safe!

Flash,

I have also heard that thud you are talking about. I had the same thing in my 98 Ranger and it got louder with the vehicles age. My new F-150 has done it a couple of times and I don't know what it is either.

Has anyone heard what we are talking about and knows what is causing this to happen? Is it normal?

Thanks

That thud is just oil slugging usually. A common and normal condition where the oil pools after sitting overnight and on initial compressor engagement it will make that noise.

It's most likely your fresh air recirc. door closing when you switch to max A/C. Every Ford truck I've owned does it and so does my '88 Mustang.
10-4 on the white vehicle helping out! Here in the land of double 90's {90 degrees AND 90% humidity for 6-7 months of the year} it REALLY makes a difference!
One thing I've noticed, niether of my R-134 equipped vehicles get as really BUTT-kicking cold as the old R-12 system in my '88 Mustang will. The 2003 Sable and my 1995 F-250 PSD does great even here in Florida, but I still miss the R-12 COLD RIGHT NOW feeling ! I still have 15 cans of R-12 {and a can tap} left so it's R-12 forever in the Mustang!!
