I have the dual trumpet with electic compresser. I think Autozone sells the tripple trumpet. A little higher pitched than semi's but it's pretty loud. I've blown close to 10 fuses so far and my headlights go dim when they're on. Pretty cool

Just as a side comment... 100 feet away is not far at all. You should be able to hear a horn, esp. an air horn at well over 100 YARDS away. Also, if you are blowing fuses and dimming your lights when activating your horn, you wired it improperly. Use a relay to run power directly from the battery. The horn wire on your vehicle should merely activate the horn relay, not power the whole unit.

I have a relay hooked to it. The stock horn wires plug into the relay which plug into the compressor, just as the instructions stated.

If you can find them, I have heard that train horns are fun on a pickup, especially when some jerk cuts you off

Grover makes a very nice set of air horns for vehicles w/o air brakes. I purchased a set for my '95 F-250 several years ago from a place called TruckPro in Cincy. Set includes chrome horns, air valve, tubing, air reservoir tank, and compressor. Mounted the compressor under the hood where the jack should go, mounted the tank under the bed, and the horns on the the driver's side cab roof. They only took a long afternoon to install. These aren't anything like the plastic ones you find at Auto Zone. I always thought those sounded like a sick duck! These horns are the same as the ones that used to be found on the International trucks (4700,4900,etc.) They are VERY LOUD ! Now the downside, I think they were around $250 for the set. But, well worth it when you're runnin' up & down I-75 with the big dawgs! Sorry for rambling on & on! LOL!
Good luck with your project!
Chris

They can be mounted to the roof, I put mine under the hood for a cleaner look. They shouldn't leak if you put the rubber gasket where it should be.

Just like Boss 50 said, use the rubber gasket and you'll be fine. I put mine on in '97. I've had no leaks to this day (knock on wood -LOL)! I have the smaller twin horns, mounted close to the driver's door on the roof. I used a International sales book for placement inspiration. They look sweet!

On my 69 camper special I cut a 5" hole in the radiator suport, had to remove the grill and pull up to the bell and replace the grill. Installed a piston pump (Thomas Industries), switch for air or electric horn, another horn relay and tank in frame. The horn has a 8" bell x 31" long, the bells hidden behind the grill, makes for a loud surprise. Truckers respect the sound of big air horns. I have one on my 95 Disco Rover sticking thru the airdam window thats painted black, nice and stealthy.

RustyWallace, they are not hard to wire, single line. Be sure to fuse the compressor and run thru a pressure switch. Go to: Grover Horns, Grover Air Horns.com. They have tanks, valves and horns. They've freight train horns if you've got the urge to act like Southern Pacific. Watch the law and use the thinker and not blow at elderly, heart attack city. Thomas Industries makes wobble pumps, the same one the 4-wheelers used called Big Red. The wife said I was always "horny". Later, Carl .........o&o>........

Question

Hay guys pretty cool thread here.I was thinking about adding air horns to my truck too.Just for some loud fun and for those people that don't know how to drive with cell phones stuck in there ears.I'm sure that a loud horn would scrare the S**T out of them.I was looking at horns on a site called tirechanger.com grover air horns. They have a train horn for $345. and a air compressor kit for $319. which would be exactly what I would want. But the thing is I just got a new 2004 F250SD,Larit,PSD. 4x4 and I don't really want to mount them on the roof.Is there any place else like under the front grill?I found a place to mount the air tank and compressor under the bed, matter of fact does anybody think that you can fill up your tires or run an air tool with that supplied air? If not I was looking at some web sites and found a heavier duty air compressor unit(Extreme Aire) Which it said it will do,I this a good unit?
