Going on a trip, where to stay??

On July 13th I, along with a friend, will be taking a road trip to Minneapolis to see a concert at the Target Center. The problem is is that I'm only 16 and I don't think I could get a hotel room without having a parent with me. (or can I)? I was thinking if that idea won't work, I could just sleep in the car in a Walmart parking lot somewhere, but I don't know where there is one. A campground would be nice too. So if there's anyone that lives there or knows that area I could use some help on this one. Thanks!!

I don't live anywhere near Minneapolis, but I imagine that NO hotel will give a room to a 16 year old unless traveling with an adult. Is your friend 18? Perhaps then you could put the room in their name. I think your other option might be good - staying at a campground. The only thing is that you may have to be 18 to reserve a campground site as well, don't know how the law works on that one. Staying at a walmart parking lot just doesn't sound too safe to me.

Go to the regional chapters, and post this question in the Minnesota Chapter forum. I'm sure someone there can offer some advice.

I bet you could find some info on the good ol' Internet for that area. Do a google on Minnesota Parks and Recreation.

camp ground it a good idea, we did it when we went down to san antonio. They never gave us a hassle about our ages, they just needed a copy of the person whos rentings drivers licence. Best way is to find a campsite and call and explain the situation to them, ask them if you need to be 18.

How about having an adult prearange a hotel room for you? You could also turn on the charm at the concert and stay with some babes house...

I have been to a few campgrounds that collected the fee in the morning if you arrived late at night. If you are staying in a tent and they come around in the morning for the fee, pay it and go on your merry way. Have fun at the concert, too, but don't sleep in a parking lot- you may end up with a police record for loitering or something. Also, don't sleep in a rest area. Too much chance of violent crime.
