my '93 4x s/c 4.0 5-spd gets a consistant 17 mpg with 3.73 gearing and has 75,000 miles. considering you have 4.10s your milage sounds reasonable to me. maybe you mentioned it and i missed it but have you tried a full tune-up? plugs, wires, fuel filter, air cleaner element, checked tire pressure. sometimes a few small things can add up to making a big difference.

I have a 2000 ranger ext cab 4x2 with the 3.0 FFV. I used to get at least 20 mpg around town and 23 highway, but about 2 months ago it dropped to about 17 town and 20 highway. Since the loss ive changed plugs, air filter, and fuel filter. No change in mpg. I dont know if this is related but my girlfriend has a 2000 mazda 626 with a 2.0 I-4 and she only got 19 mpg last time she filled up. Got me thinking if it was maybe the gas but i use chevron and she used mobile...so i dont know.

Since the first of the year when CT began prohibiting the sale of MTBE in gasoline (requiring that Ethanol now be used as an oxygenate instead), I have noticed a little bit less gas mileage per tankful. Has there been any changes in your state's gasoline standards over the past few months?
