Stiff Shifting with Manual

I was reading some threads again.. I noticed some of ya'll saying that the Manuals we have in our 5.2s are generally stiff.. I'm not sure what you mean by stiff exactly.. I know that getting into some gears feel like I have to force it a bit.. Like it doesnt want me to get in.. Specially if I'm pushing hard in 1st and went to shift into 2nd.. Its almost like 1st doesnt want to disengage for me to go into 2nd.. Also I noticed for instance, taking off in 1st gear isnt smooth.. It kinda bounces when I go.. unless I rev the engines up high and then I feel like I'm slipping the gear.. Is the truck suppose to shift hard like that? Everything past 2nd if smooth sailing.. Its funny.. I can sit and watch me shift through my driver side mirror, my rear end will raise up then sink back down when i shift and put in the juice lol..

Yup, that's how it feels on our trucks. 1st and 2nd always feel a bit more stiff than the rest.

1st gear hard to get into

It sounds like my manual is the same way, but it seems to have gotten harder to shift into 1st lately.

Then last week the clutch pedal went soft about halfway to the floor. A week later it went back to normal being solid again.

Is this a sign of a bubble in the line? Now that I think about it...I think I used dot 4 fluid to top the fluid off instead of the dot 3. Would that make a big differance?

Man...That must be one sick ride Stormin...I mean, Ive seen 4.3L stroker kits, but a 5.2?!? Thats HUGE!

I agree with everyone else..its fairly still, but not too bad for any other truck Ive ever driven.

It's fairly still? You mean stiff right?

(at least I hope you more stiff than you are still... . . . .)

Thinking out loud:

With all these mistypes, I think a couple of these guys are hitting the bottle a little too much.

Hey, my clutch does that too. I worry about that also. I want to get some of royal purple trans fluid in there. And again it seems like the mazda transmission in my truck shift is real stiff sometimes too, except at night, when it shifts smoothly. It is the nature of the 4.2, along with the miss some people experience in idle.

Mazda Transmission? Are you just referring to the fact that this full size truck has a 5 speed?
