Chaulk one up for the 4.2s !

Ok.. I go gas station hunting (yes I do it) for the cheapest price in fuel.. Gasbuddy.Com works wonders! So I find a place with 1.71 fuel.. Stock up and slam a full tank in the baby.. That'll last me till next week (thank god for living on ft hood and work being less then half a block away).. So here I am with my fiance rolling down the road.. We're bouncin to the new 6x9s I put in and the Alpine deck.. Windows down.. A/C off (its pretty well into the evening).. I pull up next to this mexican driving a traditional 99 F150 Reg Cab Stepside sitting on some wide 14s!.. I bet my fiance 20 bucks he'd gun it.. I thought well he'll take me.. 5 Speed.. 4.2L V6.. Reg Cab.. Less weight then me plus I'm sitting on a full tank.. I didnt have the tach on because I didnt feel like messing with it when I left the station.. So I'm sitting there.. Light goes green.. Idiot slips 1st gear... You can hear his engine rev'n and him not moving.. So I dumped the clutch.. Whaaaam I'm gone in 1st gear.. Now bear in mind this is the 1st Gas Manual Truck I ever owned.. So I'm shifting this sob like I'm in a diesel.. I wasnt pushing the RPMs to 5300 then shifting.. So I know I was hitting my powerband.. This guy is right at the end of my cab and I mean his ENGINE was STRAINING! to keep up.. He never once pass the back of my cab.. It was hillarious! I'm flying down the street at 89 mph.. That was the stupid part!

Now I was thinking if I had my Tach on and shifted at 5300 then I woulda left that guy.. Because I know I didnt hit 80 in 4th gear before I went to 5th so I know I shifted way too soon on the powerband.. But I still wax'd his anykey! can't play with Big Kountry lol!

It was a 4.2.. had to be.. It didnt have an XLT tag or anything marking whether it was a V8.. When I came up on it it looked like a V6 like mine except regular cab.. SWB, same as mine.. Im not certain on exact year but it was my body style.. which I believe was what? 97-01?

Again.. Was a Regular Cab SWB Stepside.. sitting on some damn wide 14s lol.. True mexican lowrider (no offense intended)..

My mods.. Nothing lol.. Just a good clean engine, regular oil changes (mobil syn 5w30 or motorcraft syn blend 5w20), K&N fuel filter, 40k miles.. thats about it..

4.6 is no match for a 5 sp single cab 4.2, not even close, 5.4 is a better race but no cigar!!!!

lmao! thanks strick.. sheesh.. make me feel even stupidier!

ok it wasnt a V8 then.. there was NO Trition V8 tags on it at all.. so V6 it was.. and yes I did drive bad but I still whooped his anykey..

and to top it off when I was at the gas station.. another V6 Regular Cab SWB came in with a driver side fender that had an F150 SuperCrew tag on it..Was pretty comical.. another Mexican driving it by the way.. I guess they are like those rice burners.. like to strut Tags on a truck that dont match.. Same as putting a Skyline GT-R tag on a Honda Civic..

I must shame us all, I lost to a chevy metro. I didn't have the ***** to drop the pedal to the floor, I was somewhere around 2100 rpm;s and he had some serious difficulty keeping up, but once he got a head of steam, he went by me at a snails pace, I know if I actually was driving my truck rather than taking miss daisy out for a sunday drive, I would have easily smoked him without breathing heavy.

Yup, our trucks can beat metro's like nobodies business. That, my friend, is a cake walk.

strick 4.2 how do you hit 90 in 3rd? I get to 60 and it seems to be all wound up.
I have the 4.2 3.55 non lim. slip 5 speed manual.
Just curious

deekon, 90 is the extreme red line when flooring it. Our trucks redline at around 5500 RPM's and in 3rd gear at 5500 you are at about 87 - 88. Use your digital tach if you got it to compare.
