66 steering column
Can anyone tell me what years interchange with the 66 "auto" steering column. From what I have seen, it looks like 66-70 are all the same but want to be sure before I spend the bucks. Right now I have some year?, of column in the truck with an aftermarket steering wheel. it's okay but could be better.

I believe 65 thru 72 are a direct bolt in.
'73 - '79 can be dierct bolt in or may require some modification where they mount to dash, @ rag joint, and/or turn sig wiring, depending on several variables.
There are also tilt columns available from 77-79 with 77-8 being one style, 79 being slightly different again. Altho 79 tilt is a more complex installation, it accepts newer style smaller diameter "sport" strg wheels, like Lariat XLT Lightening, etc. & still have Turn sig's cancel, horn blow (when wired right), plus mast jacket covers fit correctly & flex correctly, w/ out binding as newer style ['86 - '96] "sport" wheels tilt up & down.
FWIW, Hazard flashers were "add on" thru 72 & integrall after 73, meaning the later columns hazard flasher(4 ways) wired through their T-Sig switch.
Also I have bought a few 77-79 tilt columns with bad T-Sig switches. It seems FoMoCo has made the switch obsolete, and they are not available through over the counter aftermarket jobbers. . . .
BUT, GOOD NEWs is fear not! The 77-79 FoMoCo T-Sig switch is exactly the same switch as a Dodge Van without tilt wheel. . . So I just got Switches from MoPaR & got bushings/bearings etc from FoMoCo & refurbished the steering columns to resell them.
I even painted them the color the buyers wanted/ needed.
Another way out is Flashback In N.C. who offeres rebuilt Strg Columns exchange. I will eMAil you via FTE with my address. . . contact me & I will give you Flashbacks contact info. . . .he is not on line presently but we are working on him to do so.
