4w drive troubles on 92 explorer
I have a 92' and twice now I've been driving and heard a unusual noise which was narrowed down to the 4w dr. It seems to engage on it's own???? Once you hit the button, then hit it again to turn it off the noise stops. Could the hub be locking in on it's own(w/out any buttons pushed)somehow?? Easy fix I hope!?

4w drive troubles on 92 explorer
I was going straight down a road and hear a noise that sounded kinda like I was in the wrong gear or the engine was running hard??? I guess that could describe it. Then I pushed the button to turn on the 4w drive and pushed again to turn it off and it stopped. I found it funny though bc 4w dr shouldn't make noise anyway should it?? Or do the hubs make the noise? Either way it did stop...

4w drive troubles on 92 explorer
hi i am have troubles with my 4wd as well and i found out that it was the hubs so i am going to change the hubs from auto to manual the manuals are much cheaper and easy to install,it sounds like you have the same probalem that i did,so if you go this route don't forget to get the instalation kit and the manual hubs.
