Ford Oil Spec#

My '79 Shop Manual calls for the following:

ESW-M2C119-A Hypoid Gear Oil

ESP-M2C83-C Standard Transmission Lube

Can anyone direct me to a cross reference to lubes I can find in the stores?
(None of the oil bottles I've looked at carry these spec #s)

Thanks in advance for any responses:

Those specifications are to out of date to be found on a current oil container. I would check a Chilton book that covers that year and see what it says.

Chilton says to use "Hypoid Gear Lubricant SAE 80 or 90" in rear axle and to use "SAE 90 or 80 transmission lube" in the manual transmission.

I have found 80W-90 Hypoid Gear Oil for the rear end, but haven't been able to find the SAE 90 or 80 transmission lube.

When I ask the counter person for transmission lube, they want to sell me either ATF or Hypoid Gear Oil. I've been told the Hypoid Gear Oil is not good to use with the brass syncros in standard transmissions.

What do all you guys use in your standard transmissions?

Check with Redline Oil. They have tranny lubes that don't eat yellow metal. And it is some of the best gear lube available.

Use a good Mercon-rated ATF in your standard transmission and you should be fine.

Just wanted to thank BlueRanger94, TallPaul, and Rockledge for their comments. Apparently their is not a way to convert an old Ford Oil Spec # (the best the Ford Dealer could do was to say that its an "obsolete" spec #) to a product that is currently available.

I've been reading the various sites that have been recommended to me and searching the internet for more info. Soon I'll have to make the choice.

(ATF?, 50#motor oil?, Hypoid gear oil?, GL-4/MT-1 spec oil?, Marine Lower Unit Gear Lube?, Dino oil?, Synthetic?, 75W-90 weight?, 80W-90 weight?, 75W-140 weight? AmsOil?, Mobil-1?, Redline?, Royal Purple?, Valvoline?, decisions, decision. . . . . )

My son's 4 wheeler ATV uses 80w transmission oil in it's trans. It is available in motorcycle shops. I don't know if it can be used in your truck's trans but maybe you can look into it.
