I've read on this board that you should unplug the battery and reset the computer when you install a new intake, but what about a new exhaust? I have the magnaflow intalled, but never did the computer thing.
I did this when I had my Magnaflow put on. The reset is recommended after any performance mod so the PCM will recognize that it is flowing better. My mileage went up about .5 mpg after the computer reset.
I wouldn't think unplugging the battery to reset the PCM would be necessary for intake or exhaust upgrades. Seems silly to have all of those sensors if they only "sense" after a reset.
That's what I understand. The thing is constantly monitoring and adjusting to the data being feed, so it should "learn" and modify its current programming. You just want the changes to modify the latest update and not the base programming junk that you end up with if you disconnect the battery. I thought Airaid requested that it be done as a safety measure (do it all the time on the Harley when messing with things), but they intend to clear the programming because that's what they recommended that I do again after doing it the first time and getting terrible results. I don't think that they understand the implications.
