94 F150 Check engine light and rough running
I do a little work on my truck but need help with this. I have a 94 F150 - 351 W motor with intermittent problem during starting or running down the road. Check engine light comes on and truck acts like it's flooding and sometimes dies. Occassionally I have to let off the gas or it dies when this is happening. I've also had it to just die at a light due to the same issue. Once light is on the engine runs rough, won't hardly pull itself. I Pulled codes - Had a 512 - losing memory a couple of times and then now no code when this occurs. Had the injectors cleaned. I have two tanks, both pumps check out and even increased pressure a little, (mechanic did it). The mechanic thinks it might be the computer because sensors are not giving codes and they check out. I've tried resetting the computer by pulling battery cable off - problem returned. I believe my computer code is KID2, found that on left side truck panel. Any help or suggesstions appreciated before I buy a new computer and it being a shot in the dark.

I had a water temp sensor go bad on one of my trucks. It told the computer the truck was cold when it was hot. So the computer gave it extra gas. If your computer is bad, it could be anything. Whatever you do with the electric components, pull the battery cable off first. I fried a computer that way, I forgot to pull it. Good luck.

I have replaced the computer on this truck at the suggestion of a mechanic who helped check out all the sensors. I found one at the salvage, the code is KID1. Mine is KID2. Seems to be working great and all things functioning.
I also found an article on here about pulling the computer out. This was a AWESOME....that saved my butt. After loosening 7 screws from the driver side fender skirt and little leverage, I was able to remove and replace the computer in 20 minutes. THANKS
