Best resources for 1986 E-150 parts, info.

First, let me commend FTE for being such a great site. The information I've seen so far is amazing. Here's the situation: I'm rebuilding a rusted out, fair running 1986 E-150 Conversion Van (FYI, for sentimental reasons LOL). Instead of running to the forum with every little question, is there a source or sources that the members could recommend for both tips and available parts? I've got the majority of body/sheet metal work covered, but would like to fix/upgrade/improve the mechanicals as much as my budget and time will allow. I've got the 5.0L V-8, AT, and 2WD. Would like to improve performance, handling, stopping, and fuel economy (if possible). Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

This seems to be the best site for info and help that I have found. I would ask the questions here. Great bunch of motorheads here. Always willing to help. Welcome to FTE.

Don't think you can do much performance wise on a limited budget.
I've got rid of my cats, have duals running through turbo mufflers, have a hood scoop forcing air through a K&N & uprated injectors.
It breathes easier but still only gets 11mpg.
Handling is like any other large vehicle, bout the only thing you can do is change all the bushings & shocks. $$$
Drilled & vented rotors are available, but these vans munch front brake pads for fun.

You can't do much about the fuel economy, the 5.0 doesn't have enough guts to keep it going and you'll drop out of overdrive at the slighest hint of a hill if you want to run with the pack on the interstate.

Having said all that, I still love mine!

I am planning on restoring my 91 conversion van, where did you get your sheet metal parts from?

Thanks

You can use the search function to find info here also. Just get creative with your search terms. There is a 302 engine forum here also. From my experience that 302 has a tough time moving a van. You would be better off with a 300-6 or a 351W.
