I'm looking at a '93 F350 4x4 7.3 4speed auto with 45,000 miles. It has had the antifreeze changed once but with no additives. Should I be concerned about a cavitation problem with the block? The owner thinks it only gets 9-10 mpg which seems low to me. What would cause this? Did this year truck have problems with the transmission? I have never owned a diesel so would like some advice on what to look for before I buy this truck. Any help would be appreciated.

 

The milage is low though I don't know enough about diesels to tell you what it could be. I do know that cavitation is more common with trucks used to carry large loads. What do you know of its usage history?
