Tonneau Covers: opinions ?
#2
I used to own a 2002 King Ranch F-150 and had a SnugTop SL Tonneau cover. it cost me about $1,100. I depends on your vehicle....personally if you can afford a hard Tonneau cover, go for it. It will last you longer and it looks a WHOLE lot nicer, but if you can only afford the soft roll-up kind, then great. Its completely functional and serves the same purpose, but it is alot easier to break into....

Thanks Doug,
A hard cover would not work for me, my dog rides back there. Security is not an issue for me, I live in Montana and we really don't have crime out here.
Most of the time I would have my bed open, with my dog and gear (skis, fly fishing, dog, etc...) in the open bed. The times I would close it would be mainly for road trips.
I see some companies make a "hard" roll-up. Any one know about these ?

I bought a soft tonneau cover on ebay from this guy for about $125 plus shipping: http://stores.ebay.com/TRUCK-ACCESSO...enameZl2QQtZkm.
I wanted one that was completely removeable, including all the bracketry. Everything can be installed or removed in less than 15 minutes, and stored in a small area of the garage. Most of the time I don't use it, but when I want to, it's a piece of cake to install. So for me, the price was great, and it does everything I want.

I picked up an Access Roll-Up cover off Ebay for a little over 350 bucks. The reason I like it is that I have full access to the bed when it is rolled up (the bed in my Screw is small enough already) and it has tensioners that keep it taught when it is rolled out. If you have a tailgate lock, it can be locked up so that the only way into the bed would be to cut up the cover. No drilling or other modifications are required to install it and no water infiltration issues so far. I also like it because I don't have to deal with a million snaps like alot of other covers.
