Question Driving Through Or Around Indi?

I'm driving back from N.Y.to Ill. next week, what would be the fastest way around the Indianapolis area?I'm traveling west on I-70,connecting to I-74 on the west side of Indi.Should I go north on 465 or south on 465 or straight into the city on I-70?There are numerous ways on the map,but I thought I'd ask you local folks. Thanks for your input,Louie.

It depends on what time you go thru. I would go straight thru except for rush hour times 7-9 am 4 30-6 pm and if you come thru at that time expect some delay either direction on 465 as well.

At night - I-70 thru downtown to Airport X-way then north of 465 to 74. IF .. IF you come thru on a race weekend (US Grand Prix starts the 17th of June) then I would AVOID I-465 and I-74 on the west side near the racetrack. A nice route I take to avoid race traffic would be from the east - take I-465 north then west across the north leg - continue onto I-865 (the "dogleg") to I-65 North like you would go to Chicago. Go to Lebanon, Indiana and get off at SR 32 (3rd Lebanon exit). Turn left on SR 32 (you'd be going west) and go about 20 miles. You'll pick up I-74 at the 39 mile marker near Crawfordsville. 30 minutes you'll be passing Lynch Road and be back in the Land of Lincoln.
