Miss at 4500 rpm????

I have a 2000 4x4 with 3.0L FFV, auto., 4.10 gears, extended cab, with 55,000 miles. I have owned it for about 3 weeks and so far like it except for the gas mileage (15-17mpg). I have changed the plugs (AGSF 22PPM), wires (Borg-Warner Select), and fuel filter(WIX). The air filter is in good shape. I had noticed what I thought was a hesitation in the tranny shifting, but thought it was just me. I was trying to decide if I had the 4 or 5 speed automatic by flooring it from a stop and letting it shift out. I did this twice and ran out of straight road both times so I still don't know.

What I did notice was in the 2-3 shift at around 4200-4500 rpm the motor seemed to stall and acctually fall back in rpms to around 4000 then it would pick up and rev to between 5000 and 5500 rpms then shift. Any clues what would cause the drop in rpms? I had noticed it before, but it wasn't as pronounced as it was today. I am going out now to test the coil pack. What do you think?

The secondary resistance on the coil pack showed 15,380 ohms to 15,530 ohms depending on which pair of cylinders you check. My repair manual (Haynes) says 13,000-15,000 ohms. Have I found my problem? I would think that I would have other problems if it were bad, but I don't know.

I don't think all 3 coils would go bad at one time. If one was reading above 15K OHMS, and the other two were reading 14K OHMS, then that might be a problem.
