96 5.8L engine surge..?

I have a 96 f-150 5.8 and this last yr when you give it very light throttle the engine will surge and it will jump, just like you are tapping the gas.?give it a little more throttle and it is fine, let it idle and its fine..just under light throttle..Any ideas??

Check out the TPS to make sure the output doesn't jump around erratically. That would be the first place I would look. Might also run a diagnostic check for codes to see if any are present.

You mean the sensor that plugs into the throttle body?

Yes, that's the one. It's the one on the throttle shaft, not the air control valve on the side of the throttle body.

Check its output with a voltmeter. It should show around .9V at closed throttle, and progress smoothly up to around 4.8-5V at full throttle.
