Like to hear some towing experiencee. I have an 85 f-250 4x4 with a 6.9 stock engine and automatic. Like to know how much others are towing with a similar set up. We had an older 23 ft travel trailer which was about all the trauck could handle and still achieve 60 mph. I never weighted this trailer but it was probably pretty heavy. I'm looking to step up to a new 26 ft 5th wheel weighting about 5400 lbs dry. Anyway, if you are dragging around something around this weight, I'd like to hear from you.

1985 Ford f-250 xlt 4x4 6.9 w/automatic

 

I regularly tow a 28 foot 5th wheel trailer with my 86. It is 2wd and pulls it fine. All that has been done to mine is a detroit locker added to the rear, and the trans was rebuilt heavy duty. I bought a wrecked 95 Crew Cab Dually F350 a while back and with the truck and trailer combined I would say it was about 10,000 pounds being pulled. Pulled it fine. Didn't pull it like a PSD will but I was impressed. If you want more power I would go with a turbo and exhaust.
