Window Tinting

My back window and the back side windows (subercab truck) are factory tinted. I want to get the back windows tinted even darker, but i was told the tint wouldn't stick on the factory windows that have the factory tint on them. have any of you guys heard this before? have any of you tried tinting over top of factory tinted windows?

It can be done, because the factory tint is "in" the glass.

Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about. It will work just fine, I did the same on mine. Just be aware that backing up at night will be alot more difficult when you can't see out the back.

I want to emphasize Triton's comment regarding visibility. We went with very dark tint on one of our work vehicles but had to remove it because it was dangerous to drive it at night. We would have to roll down the side window to be certain another vehicle wasn't approaching. Good luck.

I just had my truck limo wraped on all the windows. The factory shade should be no problem, but do take note that if you go with something as dark as I did it will be VERY hard to see. It was a huge difference for my truck. During the day it's very hard to see with sunglasses on and at night I can pretty much only see headlights. I had limo put on the side driver and passenger too and if I want to back in I have to roll the windows down or else I can't see what's behind me.

You know what the best way to tint out a window.

PAINT IT BLACK.

People can't even see through it, including yourself.

Actually we did it. At our school we have a fundraiser and the event is called motor blast. Usually we drain the oil and floor the car until the motor blows or dies. Who ever guesses the time exactly wins a brand new BBQ. This year we drained the antifreeze and did the same thing. Went for 2 min 38 seconds.

But anyways, we wanted a cheap way to tint the windows so we just painted them black. The car was a freebee, so we figured why not.

That sounds like fun. We did something like that back in college. Except it was an old juker that was towed to the middle of the quad and we got to demolish it with sledgehammers. (We had to take out the glass and anything else that could go flying for safety issues) It was a great stress reliever during finals, 5 hits for $1

Somebody did the same while I was at Michigan State, but the also painted the car to be demolished in University of Michigan colors. This all happened right before the MSU vs UofM game.

I think 20% is more than enough. I have 35% and wish I had done 20%. Plowing at night with anything more than 20% is suicide.

I have factory tint and my tint guy was able to do the back windows down to 5% and the front down to the legal 35%. Looks great and night driving isn't bad at all.
