Help! F350 automatic transmission(s)

Can some one tell me if there is a difference between the automatic transmissions used for the f350 power stroke dually and non dually? Also is there a heaver duty automatic transmission, factory, that can be used? I have to replace the tranmission and thought if there was a better choice I should do it now.
Thanks

just replace with the best unit you can find, then fill it with synthetic fluids, and change them anyway at the regular intervals, also get an additional cooler and a finned aluminum pan is good too. I have all of these and have never had a E4OD problem in 140,000 miles on the first PSD, and 55,000 on the second truck, and several gassers before that.

I would also consider a shift kit and a pump shift kit.

The E40D is a very good tranny but from what I've heard the 4R100 is better. My friend has the E40D and he blew it up at 75K, but that was due to a 16 year old driver. I have the 4R100 and have no complaints with it except for the shift firmness(ppIII is on the way to solve that). This is my first auto and I love it.
