Aftermarket limited slip options for 2000 F150????

The truck is an extended cab 4X4 SB with the off road package, 5.4 engine, and I think 3.55's in the open diff. I don't know if it has the 8.8 or 9.75 rear

I don't want/need a locker.

I've searched here and came up with three manufacturers....

powertrax traction system...... http://www.powertrax.com/noslip.html

tractrech detroit truetrac..... http://www.tractech.com/Products.htm

eaton lsd..... http://www.traction.eaton.com/prod3.htm

Any other manufacturers that you'd recommend?

Comments? Suggestions? Experiences? I like that the powertrax can be installed by myself (no setting ring/pinion lash, etc.)

I also like the fact of not having friction clutches that eventually wear out.

Which should I get?

It looks like the powertrax is not available for the 9.75. I don't know about the detroit truetrac....

thx

The Powertrax is a locker. I have the LockRight in my truck. The NoSlip is a LockRight with a spring cusioned engagement ring to soften the engagement, but it is still a locker.

If you want a clutchless limited slip, look at the Detroit TrueTrac (made by TracTech) or the Zexel Torsen T2.

Common clutch-type limited slips are the Auburn, Ford TractionLok, and Eaton Posi.

Other lockers are the Detroit Locker, Detroit EZ Locker, and Powertrax Performance Locker (a stronger LockRight). All the Powertrax and the Detroit EZ Lockers use the factory case. The regular Detroit Locker uses it's own case.

If you prefer a selectable locker that you can turn on and off from inside the truck, look at the Detroit Electrac, Eaton E-Locker, ARB Air Locker, and Auburn Ected.

If your axle is the 8.8", your options are wide open, as there are lots of choices available. If you have the 9.75", the only ones I know of for that axle are the Auburn, Eaton Posi and Ford Traction-Lok. Go to www.reiderracing.com for application info for your axle and descriptions of how the differentials work.
