94 ranger idle problem

Whenever its been sitting, ill start it up and it will die unless i give it a little gas, it stops after i get going tho, im guessing idle speeds too low, a while back, it was too high and caused a rough shift, i cleaned the throttle body and replaced the intake duct(which had holes in it) and it seems to idle too low now. any suggestions would be apprectiated

A bad IAC valve will cause the symptoms you have. You can try cleaning it first to see if that helps your problem.

did you try resetting the computer by unhooking the negitive battery cable for at least 10 min. This will allow it to "relearn" the engine with the new hole free intake duct and the clean tb. Just a suggestion. Good luck! and welcome to FTE!

It's a cylindrical shaped device mounted on the throttle body. It also has an electrical connection on one end.
