95 Power Stroke
Hi,
I am looking at a 95 F250 EXT Cab XLT Automatic Power stroke with 146,000 Miles on it. The engine sounds and runs from what I can tell real good, It doesn't put any smoke out the back. I have driven it and it seems like a very nice truck, but when you accelerate it seems a little sloppy in the transmission. I think the last owner installed rock or brick walls, it shows a lot of use on the bumper. It a little greasie under the truck but now real leaks. In the cab there cracks in the dash and a burn on the seat. The paint is in good shape, no dents or anything like that. Its got a bed liner, the tail gate doesn't work so good. Its got very good tires, the AC is good and cold.
The guy is asking $9,850 final price. So please tell me what you think.
Thanks,
Richard.

LAST EDITED ON 24-May-01 AT 08:50 PM (EST)[p]I suspect the tranny is due for a rebuild. That's alot of miles on an auto PSD. Go to kbb.com(kelly blue book) and get the comparison prices for that vehicle.
I don't know the exact condition or options on the vehicle you are looking at but when I checked the blue book it came up with a retail price of $17395. Go there and check the options and condition and see what you come up with.

I recently purchased a '95 Powerstroke XLT that used to piggyback a camper. It was dealer maintained, but the transmission needed some attention. It has 105K, a few dents and dings, and I paid $15,000. Have your mechanic go over it and if it's serviceable then the price seems right. Even with the dents, cracked dash, and cigarette burn in the seat. A little body work, dash mat, and seat covers will hide these, but a new, rebuilt transmission will put you at book value.
