Ok, I screwed up, please help! I was probing around the cluster of wires by the brake pedal and accidently probed through two wires causing "something" to blow/shortout.

Now when I start the truck it will not shift out of park.

To add to the problem I don't have a owners manual for the truck, I've gone through the two fuse panels and checked all the fuses - I did find a blown 20A fuse in the fuse panel located under the hood - I replaced it but it still won't shift!@? - The fuse I replaced is OK now (it didn't blow again). The brake lights do work. Please Help!

 

Yours is probably totally different than my 95 Taurus. But the wiring diagram for the Taurus shows 2 fuses wired to the shift lock actuator. Fuse 1 is brake lights etc plus SLA. Fuse 5 many other accesories plus the SLA. So you might have a second blown fuse.

 

On any vehicle that is an automatic after 1990, there is a switch that will only let the tranny shift out of park when the brake is pushed. find it

 

You probably just blew the brake light fuse.
