429 piston ring question

Hi,
I'm using a set of standard size forged TRW pistons, the ones like the 1970 SCJ which are know to have excessive expansion issues. It recomended in most all books I have read to over size the bore to .008 or even .010 for this standard piston. Its due to skirt cracking that its recomended. MY QUESTION IS, that my ring gap is so large now ( .040 ) I feel I should get a set of .010 rings to bring me back down to the recomended gap of .020 max. Also my application is marine which I'm told should run a looser gap.
PLEASE REPLY
Thanbkyou
Keith

I would ask TRW, they'll tell you exactly what size the bore should be & where to measure the piston.Skirt cracking will certainly happen at .01 over. There is no such thing as .01 over rings (as far as Ive seen) you either have to get gapable rings which cost a lot, or grind down .02 rings.
