Bronco Windows

Is there any way to convert automatic windows in a 88 fullsize bronco to manual windows?

unplug everything, and go buy another door that is manual already. Or all of the parts from that door plus the door panel and replace it that way.

What would that cost? The whole reason for wanting to do this is b/c the power window motors have went out and they cost quite a bit to replace.

This belongs in our dedicated Big Bronco forum. I am sure a mod will be along to punt it over there.

Are the motors completely shot, or are the nylon spacers inside shot? You can get "gear replacement kits" from O'Reilly's for $15 - $3 core or you can actually replace the spacers with fishing weights...

When you press the switch what happens? Does the motor try to turn at all? Is power getting to the switch? Is power getting to the motor? Can you hear the motor turning, but the window doesn't go anywhere? Can you hear the motor trying to turn but locking up?...

Driver side window does nothing. It does not even make a noise like it is trying. Same for the tailgate window. The passenger side window will role it all the way down but only like 2 inches back up, then I have to assist it the rest of the way up.

Watch your battery gauge while you try both windows with the engine running. If you see the gauge move, then the power is getting to the motor.....it could be jammed. If it just doesnt have the "uumpf" to get the window back up all the way, remove the motor and inspect the insides. If the 3 nylon washers are shot ( ground to pieces inside ) then there are numberous posts about how to fix this issue.

Best bet is to get the motors yanked out, and tell us what you find.

Do you have a chilton or hayne's to help you with getting the windows out? You'll probably have to drill to get to two of the three bolts...
