Automatic door locks

Did the automatic door locks come on these trucks? My 2000 expedition locks as soon as I move the truck. My 99 f350 does not. Thanks

My '04 does. Not sure when they started it or if it's a part of a package of some kind.

I think it may be a vacuum operated trigger for the locking to occur. Sometimes mine lock right away, and sometimes it takes a little bit of driving.

As far as equipment packages go, could it be part of the Advanced Security Group? Black99GT, does you 99F350 not have the keyless entry where your 2000 Ex is equipped with keyless entry? My old 2002 F-350 Lariet had the automatic locking feature and both my current truck also do, but they also all had keyless entry systems.

No, It does not have Keyless entry The expedition does, so that might have something to do with it.

If you don't have factory installed keyless entry, it won't do the auto-lock thing. Most aftermarket remote starts/ keyless entrys have that feature built in so it would not be a big deal to get it

My 04' F-350 XLT, does not auto lock, and it does not have the keyless entry system, so I would tend to beleive it is something to do with the keyless system.

Later,,,,,,,Mark

My 2000 has keyless entry and no auto lock but it is only a XLT package so I don't know maybe that makes a difference.

Maybe it was something that was added later in years like 01 or 02 maybe?

I had a factory accessory keyless entry installed on my '04. I got a copy of the installation manual too. The accessory keyless system can be programed to autolock if you want. You have to play with the ign key and the valet switch to get into options mode. I would bet all the Code System units can be programed similarly. As a matter of fact, the guy who installed my system said the instructions were the same for mine as the older models.

I also have an older grand marquis, it has a keypad in the door, but no keyless. The owners manual has a "dance" you can do with the combination keypad to turn the autolocks on and off. Maybe the expy's have the same system?

That might explain my situation. When I shift into D, the doors lock. They lock again about 10-15 seconds later, while I'm underway. I have a Lariat with power everything, AND an aftermarket FORD remote start. I wondered why the "click" happens twice.

it's part of the Advanced Security Group, and auto-locks only with automatic transmission.
